Happy Retirement

Mrs Christine Antrobus FGCL AdGCL

January saw the retirement of Christine Antrobus from SATRA after 10 years as the Business Centre Manager,

Christine says, "This was beyond doubt the best working experience and environment I have ever had. The support of the management and other colleagues and staff was superb. During my career I have worked in tiny high street shops and Royal Palaces as well as in five star hotels I have enjoyed working with all my customers over the years and only hope that some of the knowledge I passed on as a trainer will again be passed on for future generations"

Christine has been in the industry for over 36 years spending 14 years with the Johnson Group working as a part time assistant, Branch Manager and then training to District Manager.

She then worked for 2 years as an independent consultant / trainer before joining Richard Neale as a partner at DTC for 10 years before moving to SATRA in March 2000

Christine still holds the Hon Gen Sec position on the Guild Council until the AGM in June, with her experience and expertise continuing to support the Guild.

Guild President, Adrian Redgate would like to wish Christine a happy retirement on behalf of the Guild Executive Council and all Guild members.

Joint Industries Conference

We are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker for our conference on 24th April 2010 will be:

Terry Waite CBE

Whilst negotiating the release of Western hostages as the Archbishop of Canterbury's special envoy, Terry Waite was seized and taken hostage himself. Held in captivity in Beirut for 1760 days, four years of which were in solitary confinement, his spirit and faith was tested to the limit. The experience also gave him lessons in survival that would change his life forever.

Following the success of last years conference and exhibition we are giving you the chance to book for your FREE place at the 2010 event. With the speakers already being booked this promises to be an unmissable event.

See the Conference page for more details

On The Move

On 20th November 2009 the Guild's secretariat office moved. Our new address will be:

The Guild of Cleaners & Launderers

5 Portland Place

London. W1B 1PW.

Email address and telephone number are unchanged.

This move has come about due to the Textile Services Association moving their office location to central London. The Guild Executive Council recently held a meeting to discuss this move and we feel a continuation of our working relationship with the TSA is in the best interest of the Guild, all our members and indeed the whole of the Dry Cleaning and Laundry industry.
